YEREVAN, December 12. / ARKA /. Under a decision passed today by the Armenian government foreign nationals will be refunded the VAT when buying expensive goods in the country.
According to a deputy head of the State Revenue Committee, Vakhtang Mirumyan, foreign nationals will get back the VAT when purchasing goods from the same shop worth more than 100,000 drams within one day.
However, this does not apply to foods, tobacco, medicine and artifacts, as well as cars and spare parts.
In order to get back the VAT, foreign nationals have to produce cashier’s checks, cash or bank receipts when leaving Armenia.
VAT can be refunded either in specialized offices at customs points (commission may not exceed 10 % of the VAT subject to return) or by submitting a written request. -0-
