Government revenue collection rate improves by 6.6 percent
YEREVAN, September 12. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Revenue Committee said today it collected more than 1 trillion 139 billion drams in various taxes ($2.4 billion) in 12 months.
"Thanks to efficient administration and reduction of shadow economy we managed to collect more than 1 trillion 139 million drams in taxes and other revenue from 2016 September to 2017 August, which is 6.6% or 70.8 billion drams more from the year before, " deputy chairman of the State Revenue Committee Vakhtang Mirumyan said.
Mirumyan said revenues, if calculated without VAT, amounted to more than 1.08 trillion drams, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 6.2% or 62.9 billion drams. Compared to the previous year, overpayments and arrears decreased 6.4 billion and 7.4 billion drams respectively.
VAT refunds to exporters amounted to more than 57.3 billion drams, which is 7.9 billion drams more than last year.
According to Mirumyan, the growth is driven not only by the positive rates of exports, but also by reforms initiated by the Committee.
Mirumyan said it was important that the growth of tax revenues was registered along with reducing tax inspections by 47.8%. -0--
