Green economy conference to be held in Yerevan, September 28

YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. “Towards green economy” conference will take place in Yerevan, September 28, a chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia Gagik Makaryan told journalists on Wednesday.

“The conference aims for raising awareness of the local entrepreneurs about the environment protection and exploring “green economy” notion,” Makaryan said.

The green economy is one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.

Mr. Makaryan added that the conference is organized by the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia in cooperation with Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia, UN Yerevan Office, and the International Labor Organization.

The best enterprises of Armenia, selected at the contest from 17 July to 25 August, will get their awards at the conference as well, he informed.

“Through our best enterprises we want to demonstrate the existing potential of Armenia in this sphere, and identify the further steps,” he clarified.

In 2008 Armenia’s government developed a stable economic development project. One of its priorities is the green economy and environment protection in the republic. -0-
