YEREVAN, December 12. / ARKA /. Heavy snowfalls that began today early morning across Armenia have made many roads difficult to pass, the emergency ministry said warning motorists against driving on some sections of a road Yerevan to Sevan. It said the Selim Pass road, offering the shortest way from southern Armenia to its northern parts is closed for traffic.
The ministry said that at 4 pm interstate and major inter-community roads were mainly passable.
Closed were roads from Jermuk to Gndevaz in Vayots Dzor region, from Sotq to Karvachar in Gegharkunik and some sections of a road from Sisyan to Gorayk also in Vayotz Dzor.
The snowstorm has made difficult to pass some parts of roads from SpitaK to Yerevan, from Vanadzor to Alaverdi in Lori region and from Yerevan to Gyumri.
It is now snowing in Ararat, Aragatsotn , Armavir, Gegharkunik , Vayots Dzor , Syunik and Lori regions, as well as in Yerevan.
The ministry said drivers should use winter tires when driving on these road sections.
According to Georgia’s emergency ministry, the Lars- Stephantsminda road used by Armenian motorists traveling to Russia is open only for light passenger cars and buses with 30 seats. -0-
