IMF predicts 4.3 percent inflation for Armenia

In its latest World Economic Outlook report the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised upward its 2015 forecast about inflation in Armenia from 3.8% to 4.3%. Its forecast for 2016 is 3.4% .
YEREVAN, October 8. / ARKA /. In its latest World Economic Outlook report the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised upward its 2015 forecast about inflation in Armenia from 3.8% to 4.3%. Its forecast for 2016 is 3.4% .
The Fund also forecasts that the deficit of the balance of payments for this year will be 5.9% of GDP, down from its previous prediction of 7.3%. For 2016 the figure is 6.4% of GDP. The IMF forecast of economic growth in 2015 is 2.5% and 2.2% for 2016.
Incidentally, during a June visit to Armenia, IMF director for the Middle East and Central Asia, Masood Ahmed, said to local journalists that the IMF forecast for 2015 was zero growth and about 1% growth in 2016.
According to the National Statistical Service, consumer prices in September 2015 increased by 3.3% from 2014 September. The 9 month inflation was 4.7%. -0-
