Iran intends to cooperate with Armenia in fishery business

YEREVAN, December 2. /ARKA/. Iran intends to cooperate with Armenia in fishery business, Iran’s ISNA reported after an Iranian delegation’s visit to Armenia.

Mohammad Shirvalilu, head of the fishing organization of Iran’s province of West Azerbaijan, and other members of the delegation met with the Iranian ambassador to Armenia and the Armenian deputy agriculture minister and discussed with them cooperation prospects, particularly export and import of fishes.

Fish reserves in Armenia’s Lake Sevan have shrunk 3.5 times over the two decades – there were 28 to 30 tons here in early 1990s, while by late 2011 only 8.5 tons remained.

The lake’s fish reserve continues dwindling because of unlimited fishing here.  ---0----
