YEREVAN, March 31. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic development is similar to that across the Eurasian economic area, and the Customs Union (CU) will provide comparative advantages to the country’s economic potential, Armenia’s premier Tigran Sargsyan said at the conference entitled “Armenia-CU – opportunities and challenges” Saturday.
Serious changes that took place in the world after the global financial and economic crisis made Armenia adjust its key foreign policy positions, the premier said.
According to Sargsyan, the crisis pointed to EU’s weaknesses and advantages and the expectations Armenia may have from its partnership with the EU.
At the same time, the Customs Union was being formed proving to be viable and efficient.
The conference of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia entitled “Armenia-CU – opportunities and challenges” started in Yerevan Saturday. The conference is attended by Armenia’s premier Tigran Sargsyan, member of Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission for integration and macroeconomics Tatyana Valovaya, Armenia’s deputy minister of economy Karine Minasyan, deputy foreign minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, head of Armenia’s parliament committee for budget, finance and credit issues Gagik Minasyan, first deputy head of presidential administration Vardan Aramyan, minister of finance David Sargsyan, head of Armenia’s food safety Abram Bakhchagulyan and vice-speaker Hermine Naghdalyan. –0--
