Melita Hakobyan: consumers’ rights in Armenia mostly protected
YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. Consumers’ rights in Armenia are mostly protected, Melita Hakobyan, head of the National Association of Consumers of Armenia, said at a news conference called up on Friday to mark the World Consumer Rights Day.

“Armenian consumers’ awareness of their rights is gradually growing, and this leads to a gradual improvement of services in the country,” she said.
Hakobyan said that food safety degree is rising as well, since the government has tightened grip upon the food market and consumer rights protection organizations, including the association headed by her, keep an eye on things.

She also said that Armenian consumers can choose among a large variety of products, if their purse allows it.

“As for consumers’ right to be heard, you know very well that some a number of organizations functioning in the country are ready to help consumers every minute,” she said.

Voicing regret over the fact that there are many unfair manufacturers and traders in Armenia, Hakobyan still expressed confidence that joint efforts of concerned governing agencies, consumer rights protection organizations and consumers themselves will produce effect and things will be put right.  -0-
