YEREVAN, October 8. / ARKA /. According to Armenian deputy energy and natural resources minister Areg Galstyan, who spoke today at a parliament hearing on mining problems, metal ore mining in 2013 is expected to reach 31 million tons, by 10 million more than in 2012.
According to the National Statistical Service (NSS), metal ore mining in 2012 amounted to 1.87.4 trillion drams (a 14.4% growth compared to 2011).
According to Galstyan, as of September this year 439 permits were effective for the operation of mines, including 24 metal mines, 29 groundwater wells, as well as non-metallic deposits. He said 68 metal mines were being explored now.
According to NSS, in January- August 2013 some 130.3 billion drams worth metal ores were mined, by 12 percent more form the previous year. According to geologists, metallic minerals reserves in Armenia are estimated at about $4.138 trillion. .-0-
