YEREVAN, December 20. / ARKA /. Ashot Hovanesian, head of an Armenian agriculture ministry department, blamed today the surge in price of eggs on the increase in energy prices.
The price of eggs in November 2013 soared by 30 percent from the year before. The rise in 2013 October from the same month in 2012 was 33.5%.
Some experts explained the rise by a hike in the price of forage, egg containers and a drop in the egg production.
According to the ministry of agriculture, some 690 million eggs are expected to be produced this year, by 32 million more than in 2012. -0-
