New motor road worth 7.9bln drams launched in Yerevan
YEREVAN, June 16. /ARKA/. A new road worth 7.9 billion drams (about $19mln) connecting Isakov Avenue with Leningradyan Street was opened in Yerevan on Saturday. The opening ceremony was attended by Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan.
The road was planned for relieving the traffic congestion in the center of the capital but has been delayed since 1970ies.
“We have included this construction in Yerevan master plan for 2005-2020 and it has been successfully completed recently”, mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan said at the ceremony.
The road spans a bit more than five kilometers and connects three administrative districts of the capital – Kentron (Center), Malatia-Sebastia and Achapnyak, the mayor said. All construction works have been carried out as per the European standards, he said.
Director of Yerevan Project design institute Sirekan Ohanyan said the design works were carried out by his institute, construction was done by Sahakyanshin company and the technical quality supervision was provided by Construction and Development cjsc.
The duration was 22 months, the preliminary cost of the project is about 7.9 billion drams (about $19mln).
The tunnel spanning 46 meters was build at Leningradyan as part of the project. Along with construction, 5-hectare area was landscaped and 12-kilometer irrigation network was laid down.
The municipality is planning to build another 3.1-kilometer road to connect Isakov and Arshakunyats avenues. –0--
