Opening of Carrefour in Yerevan not a threat to business – French ambassador

YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. Opening of Carrefour hypermarket does not endanger Armenian trade business, French ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud said.

‘I have noticed a great interest and need for opening Carrefour in Armenia and I am convinced the opening of Carrefour is not a threat to the business’, Reynaud said.

There are neither winners nor the defeated in this case, according to the diplomat. Everyone will benefit as Carrefour is specializing in high-quality trade services, Reynaud said.

The ambassador said the opening of the hypermarket is postponed until autumn due to equipment deliveries.

The preliminary lease agreement was signed between Yerevan Mall and Carrefour in Yerevan on March 13 in the presence of the president of Armenia and France Serzh Sargsyan and Francois Hollande.

The coming of Carrefour to the Armenian market was intensely discussed in Armenia throughout 2013. Of about 66,000 square meters in Yerevan Mall 10,000 was built according to Carrefour’s standards and will be provided for the hypermarket. –0--
