Part of Yerevan center recognized to be of priority public interest
YEREVAN, August 30. /ARKA/. Armenian government said the center of Yerevan is of exclusive and public interest for implementation of “Old Yerevan” project, at its meeting Thursday.
The “Old Yerevan” project is authored by architect Levon Vardanyan and envisages recreation of the architectural concept of Yerevan of the end of XIX – beginning of XX century. Under the project it is planned to rehabilitate several dozens of buildings of historical and cultural value at a small patch in the downtown. The project was developed by LV Architect.
Under the government decree, the area within Abovyan, Arami, Biuzand and Eznik Koghbatsi streets and Mashtots Avenue is announced as being of priority public interest.
The Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan said this part has been developed spontaneously and buildings do not comply with fire-prevention, sanitary and urban development requirements.
Under a draft decision these buildings are expected to be alienated by January 1, 2015. –0--
