YEREVAN, March 27. / ARKA /. A perspective development strategy, approved today by Armenian government, calls for creation of 60,000 new jobs by 2017 and reducing poverty level to 13% by 2025, economy minister Vahram Avanesyan told reporters after a Cabinet session.
He said the strategy has three main objectives, but the first and most important of them is to boost employment by creating high-paying jobs.
He said the second main objective is poverty reduction through effective social policies and improved collection of government revenue.
The third objective is correct calculation of economic and sectoral indicators which should serve as a basis for calculating medium-term costs and budget drafting.
"We will work to improve the overall economic environment and implement policies in selected industries. We have already approved plans of actions for 7-8 sectors industries, "he said.
According to him, a plan of actions has been approved also for high technologies. The government works also to prepare a plan of actions to boost construction industry and improve the business and investment environments.
"We hope that all this will result in a growth rate above 4-4.5 %" he said.
According to official data, the current poverty level in the country is over 32 percent. -0-
