YEREVAN, June 23. / ARKA /. Russia remains Armenia’s key trade partner, Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian said today at a joint press conference with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov in Yerevan.
According to him, in 2013 the trade turnover between Russia and Armenia surged by more than 10% to over $1.4 billion. He said Russia is the major investor in the Armenian economy having invested so far $3.2 billion.
He said in Armenia there are approximately 1,300 companies with Russian capital. He said also bilateral regular meetings are very effective and fruitful with intensive and permanent dialogue between the two countries.
According to him, Lavrov’s visit is a good opportunity to discuss the implementation of the agreements reached by the presidents of the two countries during those meetings.
"Every meeting of the presidents of our countries gives us new short and long term guidelines. Today we have discussed a wide range of bilateral issues, noting with satisfaction that our allied cooperation has a positive dynamics in the political, economic, military-technical, humanitarian and inter-parliamentary areas,” said Nalbandian. -0-
