Russian businesses interested in investing in Armenian economy, expert

YEREVAN, May 14. / ARKA /. Russian businesses are interested in investing in the Armenian economy, Oleg Velikoredchanin, administrative and financial director of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), said at a video news conference involving participants in Yerevan, Moscow, Minsk and Astana.

He said Russian businesses would like to get involved in the implementation of large projects in Armenia in the electricity sector, including nuclear energy, as well as develop transport corridors. According to him, there are great opportunities for cooperation also in mining and agriculture sectors.

However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the small amount of information about the process of Eurasian integration in the Russian media. Particularly, nothing is reported about the process of Armenia's accession to the Customs Union.

Russian investments in the real sector of the Armenian economy in 2013 amounted to $86.25 million, including $58.6 million foreign direct investment. -0-
