YEREVAN, September 30. / ARKA /. A Russian company GEO- BARRIER engaged in production of mesh structures for protection against rockfalls, landslides and avalanches , showcased today its products in Armenia at a presentation organized by Rossotrudnichestrvo, a Russian state agency promoting Russia's cultural ties with foreign countries.
The company’s chief manager, Teimuraz Gugushvili, presented different types of mesh structures, the degree of their sustainability, highlighting the benefits of barriers, in particular, their light weight, simple design, low cost, ability to be installed in tight spaces and in any climate zone.
He said the company is interested in Armenian market because of its geographical conditions rock falls, landslides and other climatic problems are typical.
Gugushvili cited findings of an independent monitoring that found that installment of mesh protective structures rules out cases of rockfalls on the roads. He said the cost of a square meter of a structure caries from 350 to 750 rubles.
Henrik Kochinyan, head of Armenian Highways state non-profit organization, said installation of protective structures in some areas can be very effective.
The presentation was attended by representatives of the ministries of emergency situations, transport and communications, defense, urban planning, the Electric Networks of Armenia, design institutes and the Yerevan State University. -0-
