Scientists discuss use of renewable energy in Armenia and region at a forum in Yerevan
YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. Scientists discussed prospects for using renewable energy sources in Armenia and in the region at a forum on renewable energy in Yerevan Thursday.
The forum has been held every other year since 2003 gathering academic scientists, entrepreneurs and environmentalists for demonstration of new technology solutions, exchange of opinions about development policies, market trends and investment opportunities”, the initiator of the forum and the head of the public council for renewable and clean energy Suren Shatvoryan said.
The two-day forum received participants from Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Greece, Russia and the United States.
Reports were made particularly on innovative technologies in renewable energy sector, energy security in the South Caucasus, use of alternative energy sources under natural disaster circumstances, future of Armenia’s energy sector in climate change context and other topics.
The scientific papers and reports presented at the forum will be released in a collection, the forum initiators told ARKA.
Number of participants in this year’s forum is 450 this year.
The forum is supported by the UNDP, Global Environment Fund and the public affairs office of US Department of State. –0--
