SCR donates number of areas to Yerevan municipality

YEREVAN, May 2. /ARKA/. South Caucasus Railway (SCR) CJSC says it will involve itself into dismantling one of Arabkir- Kanaker run’s area. 

The area with length of 890 meters, that stretches from Yerevan Central Railways Station through railway bridge on Tigran Mets avenue to Saralandji street, is not currently used for railway communication. 

SCR will conduct dismantling on its own funds, and all the materials and stuff from dismantled area of the run will be used for the railway’s needs. After finishing all the works related to the area and nearby zones SCR will donate it to Yerevan Municipality’s management. 

Thereby, SCR continues implementing the program on infrastructure modernization and update. In the framework of the program SCR has already repaired nearly 160 km of road fragments, replaced about 260 wooden sleepers, reconstructed locomotive and wagon depot of Yerevan. 

Only this year, in particular, it is projected to conduct repair works of almost 20 km of road fragments, detailed repair of 108 km of road, and over 37.6 km have been already repaired. 

CJSC “South-Caucasus Railway” is a 100% subsidiary of OJSC “Russian Railways” implementing concession management of CJSC “Armenian Railways” according to the Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. Term of the concession is 30 years with the right of extension for another 10 years.-0-
