Some tax and customs officials engaged in business in 2013 – Armenian ombudsman
YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Some officials from Armenia’s tax and customs authorities and their family members were running businesses during 2013, says the report f Armenia’s ombudsman Karen Andreasyan about problems recorded in the State Revenue Committee activities.
This means these people had illegally enjoyed advantages compared to other entrepreneurs in the market, according to the report.
According to the Ombudsman, the State Revenue Committee instituted a great number of proceedings about tax seizure, with no other restrictions, particularly penalty fee or double penalty, used.
The seizure amount was considerably higher that the tax burden, and entrepreneurs were not allowed to dispose of their bank accounts and property for long time, says the report.
In some cases the Committee used both administrative and tax responsibility sanctions over businessmen, having violated the constitutional principle of inadmissibility of double punishment for same offense. –0—
