YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. The delegation of the South Caucasus Railway comprised of general director for interaction and logistics Oleg Shatalov and deputy head of transport services Zara Agasafyants participated in the meeting of the commission for transport policies and development strategy of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways, the press office of the company reported.
The meeting held in Tbilisi on February 18-20 discussed elaboration and implementation of complex measures to improve transportation and develop transport corridors within the Organization.
An action plan for 2015-2016 was developed and new railways branches were discussed during the meeting.
The delegation made a report about operations at South Caucasus Railway and future plans.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, and Azerbaijan.
Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD or OSShD) was established as the equivalent of the International Union of Railways (UIC) to create and improve the coordination of international rail transport. Concerning especially the transports between Europe and Asia, it has helped develop cooperation between railway companies and with other international organisations.
South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway, which was handed over to the South Caucasus Railway on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. –0--
