YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. South Caucasus Railway CISC’s investments in 2014 will total AMD 6.3 billion, just as in 2013, Viktor Rebets, the company CEO, told journalists today.
He said special attention will be paid to infrastructure, which will be strengthened in 2014. In his words considerable efforts to strengthen it were made already in 2013, when also security was enhanced, stations were modernized, Gyumri’s depot was reconstructed.
Rebets said services had been improved a great deal in 2013 – free Wi-Fi access is now available in long-distance and Gyumri-Yerevan trains, and this attracted a greater number of passengers.
He said the company will continue its interaction with heads of regional administrations to develop services also in provinces.
South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway, which was handed over to the South Caucasus Railway on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. ($1 – AMD 405.25). --0---
