YEREVAN, October 14./ARKA/. St. Petersburg and Yerevan authorities have allocated land plots in their cities for construction of a hotel named St. Petersburg in Armenia’s capital and a trade house named Yerevan in Russia’s second largest city, Alexander Shapkin, the head of the Russian city’s tourism committee, told Novosti-Armenia News Agency.
“St. Petersburg municipality allocated appropriate land plot by the end of the past week, after receiving Yerevan authorities’ consent, and Yerevan did that a little earlier,” he said.
The arrangement was made in July as part of Yerevan Days in St. Petersburg. Details, Shapkin said, are not known so far, but “conceptually, Petersburg constructs in Yerevan, and Yerevan constructs in Petersburg”. He said details will be revealed later.
Armenia is now hosting a delegation made up of Russian businessmen and officials. A conference is organized in Yerevan as part of the delegation’s two-day visit for discussion of prospects for cooperation between St. Petersburg and Yerevan.
Round-table discussions and business meetings are being held as well. ---0----
