YEREVAN, April 4. / ARKA /. The 12-month inflation in late February hiked by 4.6 %, according to the Central Bank’s Board meeting on March 25.
It said in 2014 February a 1.2 percent deflation was registered compared with a 0.4 % deflation reported in 2013 February.
“Under these conditions, the 12- month inflation continued to decline reaching 4.6% at the end of February," the regulator said.
The deflation in February was due to a 1.8% reduction in food prices. Particularly, prices of fruits and vegetables fell by 8.2% and 7.7 % respectively, it said. Prices of non-food goods and services fell by 0.3 % and 0.5% respectively, contributing to a 0.1 percentage point to the overall deflation.
According to the National Statistical Service, the inflation in January-February 2014 rose by 5.1 percent from the same time span in 2013. The government’s projection of inflation for this year is 4 % (± 1.5%). -0 -
