YEREVAN, January 24. / ARKA /. Vahan Davtyan was appointed executive director of a fund assigned to oversee the restoration, conservation and development of Armenia’s largest Lake of Sevan, the government said today adding that he was announced the winner of a competition for the vacant post.
The appointment was announced Friday at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Davtyan previously served as head of a Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources department and boasts extensive public work experience.
Lake Sevan, one of the largest alpine lakes in Europe and Asia is located in the heart of the Armenian Highland at an altitude of 1914 meters.
The lake is 70 kilometer long with nearly 1500 square kilometers water surface. The lake is a major source of drinking water in the region. By 2030, its level will be increased to 1,903.5 meters. -0-
