Yerevan municipality to earmark 1.7bln drams for verdurization in 2013
YEREVAN, February 11. /ARKA/. Yerevan municipality will earmark 1.7 billion drams for verdurization of the capital in 2013, which is 400 million more than what was spent for greening the year before, deputy-mayor Kamo Areyan told journalists Friday.
Large-scale greening works are planned for the year 2013, the deputy-mayor said adding that preparations for the works have been almost completed.
Areyan also said that the municipality will continue its project on recreation areas.
Last year some 5 recreational zones were arranged on a total of 5 hectares. This year similar recreation grounds will be created in Erebuni, Nor-Nork and Shengavit in particular, Areyan said.
The deputy mayor also stressed the importance of laying down an irrigation system for proper verdurization of the capital. Fourteen kilometer-long irrigation networks created last year will be extended up to 20 kilometers this year and will cover almost all communities, he said.
The works will commence in spring so that the networks can be maintained by the end of May when irrigation season starts, the deputy mayor said. -0-
