YEREVAN, September 26. / ARKA /. The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant will start using coal to produce electricity later this year, Armenian energy and natural resources minister Armen Movsisyan said today.
The coal is transported to Armenia form Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by Hana-Trans company, which was granted by the government a three-year VAP payment deferment. The coal is brought by trucks to Vardenis railway station in Armenia and from there to Yerevan by railway. The coal supplies will enable to operate two units of the plant with 50 MW capacity each.
The modernized Yerevan Thermal Power Plant was put into operation in April 2010. Its total installed capacity is 271.7 MW, the power capacity is 242 MW and the heat capacity is 434.9 GJ / h. M.M.-00-
