Armenian president expresses condolences to U.S. counterpart over Navy Yard shooting
YEREVAN, September 19. / ARKA /. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolences Wednesday to U.S. President Barack Obama in connection with a shooting spree at the US Navy Yard in Washington, Sargsyan’s press service reported.
"Dear Mr. President! I was deeply shocked by the news of a tragedy that took place at the US Navy Yard in Washington. I strongly condemn this heinous act , which claimed the lives of more than a dozen innocent people, causing also incurable wounds to their loved ones, relatives and eyewitnesses ", the message runs.
Armenian President expressed his deep condolences to U.S. President, relatives of the victims and the friendly people of the United States, wishing them durability and strength of spirit , and a speedy recovery to those who were wounded.
Police said one shooter had been killed and two other suspects - a white and a black male - were still at large. The Navy Yard is located approximately 800 meters from the Capitol - the residence of the U.S. Congress. Twelve people were killed in the shooting and 8 more wounded. -0-
