YEREVAN, July 18. / ARKA /. Today, President Serzh Sargsyan sent a telegram of condolence to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Sultan Tuanku Abdul Halim of Malaysia on the tragic crash of a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 airplane flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur which claimed hundreds of human lives.
The Armenian President extended his deepest condolences and support to the King of the Netherlands, the Prime Minster and the Sultan of Malaysia, as well as to the relatives of the victims and the friendly peoples of the Netherlands and Malaysia, and wished them patience, steadfastness and strong spirit in this difficult moment.
The Boeing 777 with 283 passengers and 15 crew members bound for Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam was shot down Thursday afternoon at cruising altitude about 35 miles from the Russian border. All were killed.
Pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine and the Ukrainian government traded charges about who was behind the surface-to-air missile that downed the jet.
Ukrainian officials blamed a “terrorist action” for the crash, while pro-Russian separatists, who said they do not have weaponry, advanced enough to shoot down an airliner, accused Ukrainian forces of causing the crash. -0-
