YEREVAN, October 17. /ARKA/. An Armenian officer was killed by a landmine in the territory under control of a military unit dislocated in the north-east of the borderline.
The mine killed the 25-year-old chief of the field engineer company captain Gevorg Mnatsakanyan when he was carrying out his field task, press secretary of Armenian minister of defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan reported.
Three others, senior lieutenant Garush Hambartsumyan (moderate condition), conscript Narek Hakobyan (satisfactory condition) and contract serviceman Edgar Harutiunyan (moderate condition), were wounded and transferred to the Central Military Hospital.
An investigation is under way.
The ministry of defense of Armenia expresses its condolences and support to the family and the comrades-in-arms of captain Gevorg Mnatsakanyan who died in the performance of his duty, says the report. –0--
