New hotspots in burning Spayka building in Yerevan trouble fire-fighting

Firemen battling the blaze that broke in major freight forwarding company Spayka’s building yesterday night, are not able to extinguish the fire due to permanently occurring new hotspots, responsible person of the rescue service colonel Hovhannes Yemishyan told reporters, Novosti-Armenia reports.
YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Firemen battling the blaze that broke in major freight forwarding company Spayka’s building yesterday night, are not able to extinguish the fire due to permanently occurring new hotspots, responsible person of the rescue service colonel Hovhannes Yemishyan told reporters, Novosti-Armenia reports.
According to the ministry of emergencies, the fire spreads to an area of 4,500 square meters to 3 floors. The blaze is said to be of the third degree of complexity. A total of 26 unit of special equipment is used. The fire is tackled by two rescue groups, one smokescreen protection group, 114 firemen and rescuers and a special response group.
“There are lots of wooden, plastic and other highly flammable items in the building which leads to new hotspots”, Yemishyan said. It is difficult to say when the fire will be extinguished, he concluded.
Yemishyan also told reporters that, yes, the high smoke screening somehow affects the environment, but it does not contain any poisonous particles harmful to human health.
“Spayka” limited company founded in 2001 is a major Armenian freight forwarding company and is engaged in international motor freight transportation throughout the CIS countries and Europe. The company is also manufacturing packaging, boxes and palettes from polyesterol in particular. –0--
