Two firemen suffered in Spayka freight forwarding company building blaze

Two employees of the ministry of emergencies have suffered injuries in battling the fire that broke out in the building of a major freight forwarding company “Spayka” in Yerevan today, the head of Ministry of emergency rescue service Nikolay Grigoryan said.

YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Two employees of the ministry of emergencies have suffered injuries in battling the fire that broke out in the building of a major freight forwarding company “Spayka” in Yerevan today, the head of Ministry of emergency rescue service Nikolay Grigoryan said.

One of them suffered a leg trauma; the other one had smoke inhalation from the fire. The condition of both is assessed as satisfactory, Grigoryan said.
Grigorayn also said it is uncertain when the fire will be extinguished as there are many explosive materials in the building and they catch fire permanently. Yet, according to Grigoryan, the firemen localized the blaze and preventing further spreading.

The fire broke out yesterday night, according to the report. Initially four squads and a rescue group of the crisis management center arrived at the accident site. Extra forces were sent when requested, says the report.

A total of 17 squads, two rescue groups, 110 fire-fighters and rescuers and an emergency response group are involved in the fire-fighting works.
In the beginning the fire was said to be of the second, but then of the third degree of complexity.

The police, the medical emergency and electrical power services have been informed about the accident.

“Spayka” limited company founded in 2001 is a major Armenian freight forwarding company and is engaged in international motor freight transportation throughout the CIS countries and Europe. The company is also manufacturing packaging, boxes and palettes from polyesterol in particular. -0-
