Armenia begins work towards liberalization of visa regime with EU
YEREVAN, September 6. /ARКА/. Armenia has launched the work for the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, but will not encourage illegal migration, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told reporters on Friday.

He said the active stage of the process will begin in 2020, but work and negotiations are already underway to understand all the issues, the problems, and also to listen to the concerns of the European Union.

The minister also spoke about the latest deportation of about 40 Armenian citizens from Germany, who said  they were there to have medical treatment.

The minister said under readmission procedures  in Germany,  foreign citizens first receive a notification, after which they are offered to leave the country on their own. If they refuse, they are deported by force. Moreover, for those who are there for medical treatment, the possibility of completing treatment at home and the inability to make a flight for health reasons are always taken into account.

“I don’t want to act as a spokesman for Germany, especially since it is about human destinies and everyone perceives these issues differently. I am not familiar with the details of each case, but we cannot support illegal migration. It is important to  us to expand opportunities for Armenian citizens and contacts with EU countries, "Mnatsakanyan said. --0—
