Armenia’s central electoral commission to be promptly reporting ballot information

YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/. All the available information about the ballot will be promptly provided to mass media in the press center of Armenia’s central electoral commission (CEC) and will be posted on the commission’s website, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to the commission’s press secretary Hermine Harutiunyan.

The media center will be operating round-the-clock on the vote day, she said.

“It became a tradition that during national elections, from 09:00 to 21:00, briefings are held in our media center, by representatives of various agencies who describe the work they have done. For instance, the police rep will provide information on the number of voters”, Harutiunyan said.

She also said that CEC accredited mass media outlets will work with them throughout the day. Technical staff of TV companies in particular started synchronizing their equipment at the commission as early as on February 16, Harutiunyan added.

Presidential elections are being held in Armenia today. Seven nominees are running for the country’s president: incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan,
former prime minister and leader of Freedom party Hrant Bagratyan, former foreign minister and leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisyan, well-known Soviet dissident and leader of National Self-Determination party Paruyr Hayrikyan, ex foreign minister of Karabakh Arman Melikyan, political scientist and head of Radio Hay Andrias Ghukasyan and specialist in epic studies Vardan Sedrakyan.-0-
