YEREVAN, October 21. / ARKA /. Armenia’s defense minister Seyran Ohanyan has left today for Belgium to attend regular meetings of defense ministers whose countries have peacekeeping troops in Afghanistan and Kosovo as part of NATO missions.
Armenia’s defense ministry said the meetings are scheduled for October 22-23 at NATO headquarters in Brussels. In Brussels Ohanyan will have a series of meetings with counterparts and NATO top commanders.
Cooperation between Armenia and NATO is currently proceeding in accordance with Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP), signed in December 2005.
As part of IPAP, Armenia holds periodic consultations with NATO on regional security issues, on development of Armenia’s military doctrine and improvement of its defense and budget planning. Armenia also participates in NATO peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan. -0-
