YEREVAN, July 30. / ARKA /. Armenia stands ready to deepen and strengthen its relations with Canada both in bilateral and multilateral formats, said today president Serzh Sargsyan during a meeting with visiting Canada’s minister of labor, social development and multiculturalism Jason Kenney.
Sargsyan was said by his press office to thank the authorities of Canada for recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The president singled out Jason Kenny’s great personal contribution to this matter, expressing his gratitude for the warm attitude displayed in Canada towards the Armenian community.
Sargsyan described Kenny’s sincere and consistent work as a special contribution to the strengthening of the Armenian-Canadian friendship.
In turn, Kenny said visiting Armenia was his dream, which is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the rich culture and spiritual values of the Armenian people. He stressed that this visit is the indication of his desire to further strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to stimulate trade and economic ties.
The sides were said to have praised also the current level of Armenian-Canadian bilateral relations, which are backed by the common Christian system of values of the two nations. -0-
