Armenia taking up chairmanship in of COE Ministerial Committee
YEREVAN, January 22, /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received January 21 the newly appointed Council of Europe Office Head Oleksandr Pavlyuk, the government press office reported.
It said congratulating Mr. Pavlyuk on the appointment, Tigran sargsyan wished him fruitful activity: “We will do everything to make you feel better in Armenia so that you can carry out your mission without any impediments. We are interested in it, since the programs stemming from your mission are in compliance with the government’s strategic programs,’ he was quoted as saying.
Thankful for the reception, Mr. Pavlyuk reminded that this year Armenia is taking up the chairmanship of Council of Europe Ministerial Committee, which is supposed to help boost cooperation between Yerevan and Strasburg. He expressed willingness to assist Armenia all the way through its chairmanship in the Council of Europe, as well as to promote the implementation of the 2012-2014 Council of Europe-Armenia Action Plan.
Armenia joined the Council of Europe on January 25, 2001. Armenia is currently cooperating with the EU in the framework of the Eastern Partnership Program and is negotiating the Association Agreement, which will replace the current partnership and cooperation agreement and will be aimed at strengthening relations between Armenia and the European Union in various fields, especially in matters of foreign policy, democracy, economic integration, the movement of people and energy. -0-
