YEREVAN, September 13. / ARKA /. Armenia will send troops to Belarus to take part in joint military exercises of the Rapid Response Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, codenamed Interaction 2013, scheduled for September 20-25. The drills will involve over 600 troops from former Soviet republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
The aim of the joint exercise is to improve the training of government agencies and troops in ensuring military security of the CSTO member countries in the Eastern European region.
The Interaction 2013 drills will be conducted along with large-scale Russian-Belarus military exercises codenamed Zapad 2013 (West 2013).
Moscow and Minsk held similar large-scale military exercises in 2009. They involved about 12,500 servicemen and up to 200 pieces of military hardware. -0-
