YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. Spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said at a briefing on Tuesday that there is an intention to organize a meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US President Donald Trump.
"We are discussing this issue and we can say that Pashinyan will attend the UN General Assembly in September in New York and hold a number of bilateral meetings," Balayan said. According to the spokesman, a meeting between the U.S. and Armenian leaders is also possible,” he said.
"I cannot inform yet that a final agreement on the meeting has been reached," Balayan said.
Earlier, the US Ambassador to Armenia, Richard Mills, told reporters that active efforts were underway to arrange a meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September. He added, however, that no decision had been made.
Also on July 24, the leaders of the US Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues began collecting the signatures of their colleagues on a bipartisan letter encouraging President Donald Trump to meet with Armenia's new Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the United Nations summit in New York this September. In their opinion, this meeting can contribute to the expansion of the Armenian-American bilateral relations and the subsequent integration of Armenia into the world economy. -0-
