YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolences on Tuesday to his Iranian opposite number Hassan Rouhani in connection with a traffic accident that claimed the lives of dozens of people, Sargsyan’s press office said Monday evening.
"Sharing your and Iranian people’s grief, I express my deepest condolences and support, and wish the families and friends of the victims the strength of spirit and a speedy recovery to the injured people," the message runs.
A collision between two buses in Iran has killed 44 people and injured 39 others, according to officials. The accident took place late on Monday along the highway between Qom and Tehran. "The driver of a bus traveling fr om Isfahan lost control of his vehicle after one of his tires burst. He hit a car before finding himself in the oncoming lane, wh ere he hit another bus,’ police officials said.
An estimated 20,000 people are killed each year in Iran in road accidents, according to statistics. -0-
