YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. Despite the agreement reached by Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign minister October 30 in Geneva that the sides to the Karabakh conflict will not deliberately target civilian populations or non-military objects in accordance with international humanitarian law, Azerbaijan continued shelling peaceful settlements of Artsakh today, the State Emergency Service of Artsakh said.
It said Stepanakert was shelled in the morning, Martuni and Martakert in the noon and later Shushi came under fire from various missile launchers.
Armenia accused today Azerbaijan of using phosphorus munitions. Shushan Petrosyan, spokeswoman for the Armenian defense ministry, said the Artsakh Ministry of Defense presented irrefutable facts of the use of phosphorus ammunition containing elements of chemical weapons by Azerbaijan.
The Artsakh Ministry of Defense stated earlier that the enemy forces used phosphorus munitions containing elements of chemical weapons in the Azerbaijani-Artsakh conflict zone, which is a gross violation of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law and customary law, the Geneva Conventions, provisions and documents of the relevant UN conventions, which, in addition to causing damage to the Armenian forces, also pursues the goal of kindling large-scale forest fires and creating a real threat of an environmental catastrophe in this territory.
Since September 27, when Azerbaijani troops launched large-scale offensive against Artsakh with the support of Turkey and Middle East mercenaries, the Armenian forces of Karabakh have killed more than 7,000 Azerbaijani soldiers having also destroyed 632 battle tanks and armored vehicles, 4 MLRS Smerch and Uragan, 6 TOS-1A MLRS, 226 UAVs, 16 helicopters and 25 aircraft.
According to the official data of the Armenian side, while repelling the enemy's aggression, about 1060 Armenian servicemen were killed, several hundred people were wounded. As a result of Azerbaijani war crimes, 44 civilians were killed and 122 civilians were wounded and 11,600 properties were destroyed and damaged. -0-
