Chief of National Defence General Staff of Greece due in Armenia Wednesday
YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. Lieutenant General Mikhail Kostarakos, the Chief of the National Defence General Staff of Greece, is arriving in Armenia March 25, the Armenian ministry of defense said today.
It said Mr. Kostarakos will have talks with his Armenian counterpart Colonel-General Yuri Khachaturov. After the talks the two sides will sign an agreement on military cooperation in 2014 and will come out with a joint statement.
General Mikhail Kostarakos was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1956. He joined the Hellenic Military Academy in 1974 and after graduation in 1978 was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in Artillery.
During his military career he had various National and International Command and Staff assignments. He graduated also from the Law School of University of Athens and acquired a post-graduate on “Diplomatic and Strategic Studies”. He speaks English and French. On 1 November 2011, he was promoted to General and appointed as the Chief of the National Defense General Staff. He is married and has two daughters. -0-
