Defense ministry: Azerbaijan escalating tension in Karabakh conflict zone

Azerbaijan violated a verbal ceasefire arrangement more than 70 times over Wednesday night on its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh, the press office of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s defense ministry reported Thursday morning.
YEREVAN, April 21./ARKA/. Azerbaijan violated a verbal ceasefire arrangement more than 70 times over Wednesday night on its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh, the press office of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s defense ministry reported Thursday morning.
The ministry accuses the Azerbaijani side of escalation of tension in Karabakh conflict zone saying that Azerbaijan is responsible for this escalation.
According to the press release, the shelling was most intensive on south-eastern, eastern and north-eastern sections of the contact line.
A Karabakh army serviceman, Marat Danielyan, 32, was killed in the shelling.
The ministry says the Karabakh army defends the state border and resorts to return steps, if necessary. ---0----
