YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. Armen Ashotyan, deputy chairman of the Republican party of Armenia, spoke Tuesday about yesterday’s meeting between his party faction head Vahram Baghdasaryan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He said that the sides’ stances are close to each other and urged journalists not to make a reality show of the negotiation. He said the reality show hinders the talks.
Ashotyan said that the meeting was important and consultations will be continued also with other factions.
In his opinion, a part of the meeting should going on behind closed doors, since the result, not the process is important.
He finds it wrong to comment on meetings too much and to discuss details.
”All levers are in the executive authorities’ hands,” he said. “The Republican Party of Armenia is willing to support all reforms and no reason for early dismissal of the parliament.”
Ashotyan said that as a whole, the difference between the Armenian Republicans and Nikol Pashinyan’s stances is not so big, since both political forces find that processes in the country should be beneficial to social, economic and political interests of people.
A different matter is that different political parties see that in different ways, but the goal is single – constitutional order, stability inside the country and the country’s security.
Ashotsyan finds it wrong to negotiate from the position of strength and intimidation. He said that both Ashotyan and Pashinyan yesterday refrained from the statements that could make the process inconvertible.
He finds it necessary to ease tension.
”The premier was a little nervous,” he said. “Therefore, it is necessary to cut off nerves and to refrain from revealing details of the talks, since it would breach gentleman arrangements. A attach importance to the fact that yesterday both of them refrained from revealing details of the meeting.”
The party man said that the result of the talks will be determined not also by Pashinyan-Baghdasaryan negotiation, since there are also other parliamentary forces.
Ashotsyan finds it wrong to connect the necessity of early parliamentary elections with investments in the country’s economy.
In his opinion, business needs no the change of the parliament and Pashinyan insists on early parliamentary elections to ward off the threat of possible vote of non-confidence in his rule that can be expressed by the parliament after May 9. -0---
