Former Armenian Parliament vice chairman appointed ambassador to Kazakhstan
YEREVAN, August 22. / ARKA /. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan appointed former deputy speaker of parliament Ara Sahakian as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Kazakhstan with residence in Astana.
By another decree the president dismissed Vasily Ghazaryan as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Armenia to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
Ara Sahakian was born in 1955. In 1978 he graduated from the department of philosophy of the historical faculty of Yerevan State University. He is the author of numerous publications in the fields of philosophy, history, public administration, social issues and human rights.
He worked at various universities, also as a scientific editor of the editorial board of the Armenian Encyclopedia. In 1990-1992, he served as secretary of the Supreme Council of Armenia, in 1992-1995 he served as first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council, in 1995-1998 as vice-speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia. From 2007 to the present day he taught at the Academy of Television and Radio. -0-
