Four off-the-power parties to start on a joint platform in Armenia in September
YEREVAN, July 9. /ARKA/. Four political parties that are not in power currently, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutiun, Heritage and the Armenian national Congress, will start working on a joint platform, the head of heritage Raffi Hovhannisyan said.
It is the only way to achieve a change in political power in the country, he told a press conference on Tuesday.
Most of the Armenian people demand this consolidation, Hovhannisyan said. Before September, steps will be taken to coordinate civil initiatives and develop joint actions, he added.
None of the political parties can solve the current problems alone, according to the leader of Heritage. Common objectives, a roadmap and an action plan, should be developed, he said.
According to Hovhannisyan, the autumn will be a watershed for oppositional parties – the opposition will either unite and go beyond the parliament limits or will continue in the same format.
An unprecedented consolidation of all oppositional forces is needed to achieve drastic changes in Armenia, he said. If it happened before, unpopular decisions like the funded pension law and the electricity price increase could be prevented, the leader of Heritage said.
Heritage Party, liberal-democratic political force, was founded in 2002 by former Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovhannisyan who was the runner-up in the 2013 presidential election. At present, the party has four representatives in Armenian parliament. –0--
