Heritage party favors European integration of Armenia
YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. Heritage opposition party is supporting the European integration of Armenia, member of the board of the party Armen Martirosyan saod as cited by Novosti-Armenia.
The party is against countries’ loosing their sovereignty, he said at the 10th congress of the party in Yerevan on Saturday.
Following the negotiations between Russia’ Putin and Armenia’s Sargsyan on Septemebr 3 2013, Armenia announced its intention to join the Russian-led Customs Union and access to the Eurasian Economic Union. Before that, Armenia was expected to sign an association agreement with the EU.
According to Martirosyan, Armenia’s civil society was not prepared for long-lasting struggle in the parliamentary and especially in the presidential elections, which enable the authorities holding illegitimate elections.
The leader of the party Raffi Hovhannisyan, in his turn, said the Heritage would be waiting to see when words of the Armenian people would become deeds and when the people would change. He also said the party has had 50 new members recently.
Heritage Party, liberal-democratic political force, was founded in 2002 by former Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovhannisyan who was the runner-up in the 2013 presidential election. At present, the party has four representatives in Armenian parliament. –0--
