Nalbandian: Lavrov brought no new proposal over Karabakh
YEREVAN, April 24. /ARKA/. Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian denied today media speculation that his Russian counterpart  Sergei Lavrov had brought  to Yerevan during his visit to Armenia earlier this week a plan implying “painful concessions” that Russia is going to offer to the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, prompted by the four-day hostilities in the conflict zone in early April that left scores killed and wounded on both sides.

Speaking to reporters after paying tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, Nalbandian said no mutual concessions had been discussed with Lavrov, saying on the table there are only the proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, voiced at the level of presidents and known to all. According to him, Armenia was ready for talks, while Azerbaijan ignored them.

"If these proposals were beneficial for Azerbaijan, the negotiation process would not have reached an impasse and Azerbaijan would not have unleashed the latest hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. That was why Baku tried to solve the problem by military means, but suffered a defeat," Nalbandian said.

He said Azerbaijan will be forced to return to the negotiating table, as there is no alternative to negotiation process.

Nalbandian stressed that Azerbaijan's latest large-scale aggression has caused serious damage to the negotiation process. He said the Minsk Group co-chairs and the international community will need to make strong efforts to repair the damage.

"It will be very difficult, as the hostilities resulted in tens of victims The international community is trying to bring Azerbaijan back  to the constructive track, to continue the negotiations, which have no alternative," he said.-0-
