No Kessab Armenian arrived in Armenia, minister

YEREVAN, April 3. / ARKA /. No Armenian refugee from the Syrian town of Kessab has arrived in Armenia yet,  although there is information that some of them who have found shelter at an Armenian church  in Latakia may move to Beirut in Lebanon and from there to Armenia, Diaspora minister Hranush Hakobyan told a Cabinet session today.

She said all government agencies in Yerevan are ready to assist the Armenians of Kessab.

In turn, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said Armenian parliament members who visited the deported Armenians from Kessab in Latakia lately say the majority of them want to return to their homes. He said the government will do anything to be close to Armenians of Kessab.

Armenians around the world have launched #SaveKessab campaign to support the endangered community in Syria. US reality TV star Kim Kardashian has joined it urging her fans on social media to save the ancient Christian Armenian town.

Her call was backed by other prominent Armenian pop music legend Cher and others. Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has launched a campaign to raise donations for Kessab Armenians. -0-
