Orinats Yerkir finds it problematic to join new coalition
YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. Orinats Yerkir party considers its involvement in the new cabinet problematic and inappropriate, secretary of Orinats Yerkir parliament faction Mher Shahgeldyan told reporters Wednesday.
Shahgeldyan made this statement after the meeting of the political council Wednesday.
He also said the political council will satisfy the application of three Orinats Yerkir ministers – head of emergencies Armen Yeritsyan, agriculture Sergo Karapetyan and urban planning Samvel Tadevosyan – to leave Orinats Yerkir.
The secretary of the faction stressed the matter will be finally solved on April 25, after consultations with regional party bodies. On the same day the head of Orintats Yerkir leader and secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan is expected to give a press conference.
Shahgeldyan said the party thanked the president Serzh Sargsyan for joint work and wished success to new premier Hovik Abrahamyan.
Among unsuitability factors Shahgeldyan mentioned the fact that the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is able to form a cabinet on its own.
The party members do not rule out Orinats Yerkir may turn into opposition.
Orinats Yerkir has been in the ruling coalition since 2008 and is holding three ministerial posts in the cabinet and six seats in the parliament.
On Sunday the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) nominated speaker Hovik Abrahamyan for the premier’s post, to replace Tigran Sargsyan who resigned on April 3. Later in the day, the president Serzh Sargsyan appointed Abrahamyan as premier. According to the Constitution, the government is formed within twenty days after the premier is appointed. –0--
